Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 7, 2026
Vennla is a language-learning app provided by Rozek Industries Ltd (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Vennla you agree to this policy.
Who is responsible for your data
The controller responsible for your personal data is Rozek Industries Ltd, a private company limited by shares registered in England and Wales (company number 16474200), registered office 167–169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF, United Kingdom. Director: Robert Piotr Rozek.
For anything about your data, contact us at support@vennla.co. See also our Legal Notice.
Our representative in the European Union under Art. 27 GDPR is Robert Piotr Rozek, Augsburgstr. 6, 80807 München, Germany (email support@vennla.co). EU users and supervisory authorities can contact the representative about any data protection matter.
Information we collect
- Account information. We use Clerk, our authentication provider, to manage sign-in with your email address (by password or a one-time code). This includes your email address and, if you provide it, your name.
- Learning data. Your study activity: the words you learn, review history, spaced-repetition state, streaks, and progress statistics.
- Content you provide. Vocabulary you add, texts and documents (including PDFs) you upload to build custom corpora, and the messages you send to our AI conversation and tutoring features.
- Payment information. Pro is bought inside our iOS and Android apps, and payments are handled by Apple or Google. We receive your subscription status and transaction identifiers, never your card details.
- Usage and device data. Basic technical data (such as app version and general interaction data) needed to operate and improve the service.
How we use your information
- Provide, personalize, and improve the learning experience;
- Generate AI-assisted content — translations, grammar, conversation, and pronunciation;
- Process subscriptions and payments;
- Communicate service-related information;
- Maintain security and prevent abuse.
Legal basis for processing
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — creating and running your account, storing your learning data and progress, processing the texts and messages you submit (including sending them to our AI and speech providers to generate the answers, translations, audio, and pronunciation feedback you ask for), and providing a Pro subscription.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) — keeping payment and accounting records as tax and commercial law requires.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — keeping the service secure, preventing abuse (for example rate limits on AI features), fixing errors, and sending service-related messages. Our interest is running a safe, working service; you may object at any time by contacting us.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — optional study-reminder notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app or your device settings. Microphone and camera are only used when you start a recording or photo yourself, and that recording or photo is processed to provide the feature you asked for (see “Performance of a contract” above).
AI processing and third-party services
To provide our features we share limited data with service providers (“sub-processors”) who process it on our behalf:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Neon — database hosting for your account and learning data.
- Vercel — application hosting and file storage (Vercel Blob) for texts you upload.
- Google (Gemini) — powers AI tutoring, conversation, translation, and vocabulary features. The messages and text you submit to those features are sent to Google to generate responses.
- Microsoft (Azure AI Speech) — text-to-speech audio and pronunciation feedback. Text sent for audio, and recordings you submit for a pronunciation check, are sent to Microsoft.
- Apple and Google — in-app purchase processing and subscription management, and the speech recognition built into your phone when you dictate or speak in the iOS or Android app (your recording may be processed on Apple’s or Google’s servers under their own privacy terms).
- Hugging Face — if you use speech recognition on the website, your browser downloads the open speech model from Hugging Face; the transcription then runs on your device, and Hugging Face does not receive your audio.
These providers are required to protect your data and use it only to provide their services to us. We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and associated learning data at any time — on the web, open Settings → Account & membership (from the avatar menu) and choose Delete account; on iOS and Android, use Settings → Delete account. Some records may persist briefly in backups, and in third-party providers according to their own retention policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us at the address below.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, the supervisory authority where you live or work.
Children
Vennla is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
